(GW 11/2012). ## Location Situated just moments away from the historic Merrion Square, it is found in a quiet oasis in the very heart of Dublin. Gather with local artists on Merrion Square at the weekends to take in local artwork while taking in the finest Georgian Square in the country, plunge into Viking Dublin at Wood Quay, explore the City Wall on Cook Street, still standing from the 12th century, pick up some purchases at nearby Grafton Street, and visit the National Library or National Art Gallery, with its iconic paintings and sculptures, just a stone?s throw from the hotel?s doorstep. The Davenport is well-serviced by a varied transport network;LUAS, rail, bus routes and rental bikes are all in close proximity and, for ease of access to and from Dublin Airport, the air coach service is situated just moments away. ## Rooms There are 103 superbly-appointed en suite rooms, 10 junior and 2 one-bedroom suites.The Classic category comes with 2 single beds or a King Bed and are approximately 30 square metres. Décor is traditional Irish with well appointed soft furnishings and dark wood. Room includes air conditioning / tea & coffee making facilities / personal safe / hairdryer / WIFI available / 28? LCD tv with on demand movies, music and internet browser. ## Restaurant Dine In the charming Lanyon restaurant which is named after the famous architect, Sir Charles Lanyon. Decorated in dark woods, burgundys and deep blues this Dublin restaurant offers comfortable, well appointed surroundings. Full buffet breakfast with Irish and continental options is served here each morning 07:15-10:15am. Alternatively, President's Bar is dedicated to world leaders. It has a club like atmosphere with bay windows that provide an ideal ambience for a cosy lunch or afternoon drinks.The bar is very popular with locals and offers an excellent snack menu that includes favourites like home made soup, steak sandwiches, seafood chowder and home baked apple tart. ## Exterior Upon arrival you will be greeted by the hotel?s striking facade, distinguishing it from any other. It is all that remains of the landmark building, Merrion Hall just off Merrion Square designed by Alfred G Jones in 1863, after a fire engulfed the building in 1990. The interior refurbishment and exterior restoration has been sensitive to the historic nature of the building ## Lobby Very striking and large lobby as you are within the main original hall that has been sympathetically restored.
